Deschutes Soil and Water Conservation District

Funk/Levis ran two successful, comprehensive campaigns for Deschutes Soil and Water Conservation District to increase brand awareness and educate the public ahead of a critical tax measure on the November 2024 ballot.

To boost brand awareness across Deschutes County, we developed a compelling slogan and crafted cohesive branded materials, including a one-sheet, stickers and social media content. Our team enhanced the district’s online presence by producing short-form videos in partnership with Motion Theory, managing social media, optimizing the website and executing targeted social media campaigns. We also designed print and digital ads, ensuring the District reached a broad audience through local media outlets.

Alongside the brand awareness campaign, we crafted and launched an effective information campaign for a ballot measure to establish a first-ever tax base for the District. We established a unified look and feel across all materials, which included an informational one-sheet, FAQs and a direct mail postcard. We worked with the Secretary of State to meet state requirements and secure Safe Harbor status on all content. Our strategy and execution led to a successful vote, securing stable funding for the District’s essential conservation services in Central Oregon.

Our integrated campaign approach delivered exceptional results across all metrics, demonstrating the community’s growing engagement with DSWCD’s mission. The brand awareness campaign reached over 35,000 Deschutes County residents through strategic video content, building a highly engaged remarketing audience of more than 10,000 viewers. This translated into measurable growth across digital platforms, with website traffic showing a remarkable 157% increase in overall users and an even more impressive 992% surge in returning visits during the campaign – indicating strong community interest and engagement.

“Funk/Levis was exactly the partner we needed at a critical moment in the life of our District. They helped us launch a bold new branding and awareness strategy to boost our visibility across Deschutes County. Thanks to their efforts across digital, social and traditional media, data quickly demonstrated how residents were newly engaging with our long-standing district in meaningful ways. On top of that, Funk/Levis designed an outstanding information campaign for a ballot measure to establish a first-ever tax base for DSWCD, including  informational materials that achieved Safe Harbor status from the Oregon Elections Division. Their thoughtful and impactful materials helped us effectively communicate crucial information to our community. The results speak for themselves — voters passed the measure, establishing a sustainable tax base to secure our District’s future. We couldn’t have done it without Funk/Levis!”
